Psychopomps
Between the far shores of life and death is a vast expanse that all souls must cross. The role of a Psychopomp is to guide these souls on their final journey. New Psychopomps are born in the tide pools on the edge of life where souls sometimes get lost. These new beings grow by helping these lost souls; each soul is marked by an Icon, an archetype from which psychopomps form their identities. When a new psychopomp delivers a soul to its gate it absorbs an aspect of that Icon, building out its identity, until it has solidified enough power to leave their birthplace and start the grand journey themselves.
Psychopomps is a movement based deck-builder. Dice represent souls and are rolled to randomly determine where they appear in Limbo. You play cards to move from node to node, collecting souls and dropping them off at their gate to receive cards from one of the four Icons in play. You can trade these cards in for Emblems or Powers. Emblems are a permanent bonus, and powers are your victory condition; collect four from one Icon and you win. You can also spend powers for big one time effects.
